2016 SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON MATH CHALLENGE
Middle school students from Battle Ground Public Schools took part in the fourth annual Southwest Washington Math Challenge last month at Chief Umtuch Middle School, with CAM Academy sixth-grader Zach McClellan taking the top individual score award. Other first-place high scorers were eighth-grader Rebecca Strizver; seventh-graders David Alyabyev and Alex Forstrom; and fifth-grader Calem Klinger.
These teams won first-place awards:
• Pleasant Valley Middle School eighth-graders Evan Anderson, Andrew Savage, Kyra Crosby and Amber Holmgren.
• Chief Umtuch seventh-graders Josh Ferguson, Peter Pham, Jameson Harpe and Alex Forstrom.
• CAM Academy sixth-graders Jonah Colagross, Zach McClellan, Tanner Brinton, Elijah Clark.
• Chief Umtuch fifth-graders Samantha Grossman, Jonah Lipovich, Conrad Kallwick, Genevieve Linderman.
NATIONAL GUARD HIGH SCHOOL CULINARY ARTS COMPETITION
Heritage High School’s ProStart Culinary team — Katarina Breithaupt, Dallas Brock, Kyle Scott and Michael James — took second place at the National Guard High School Culinary Arts Competition last month at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Tacoma.
