Senior softball update
Construction began last week on a softball diamond at Pacific Community Park that will become the home for the Vancouver Metro Senior Softball Association. Poles for the backstop were installed on March 29, the first step in building a field that is scheduled to be ready for the league’s 2017 summer season.
The VMSSA is a recreational slow-pitch softball league for players 60 and older. More than $250,000 has been raised of the $275,000 needed for Phase 1 of the field project, according to VMSSA president John Aarhus.
Its 2016 season, which begins in May, will be played at Bagley Community Park. Information about the 2016 season is available by visiting www.vancouverseniorsoftball.com.
