A female driver and her male passenger were detained Saturday night after a police chase from Jantzen Beach on Portland’s Hayden Island ended in a crash on Northeast Fourth Plain Boulevard near Thurston Way.
Police began chasing a black Dodge truck after 7 p.m. after reports that the driver nearly struck a police officer in Portland, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian.
At times the pursuit exceeded 70 mph. The driver also ran several stop signs, according to emergency radio traffic.
The high-speed chase lasted about 11 minutes in Clark County, ending in a crash at 7:37 p.m.
The driver apparently was uninjured; the passenger complained of back pain. Fourth Plain was briefly closed for investigation.
