A man was stabbed during a fight Wednesday morning, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

Kevin McCarter, 50, was walking with a woman along Southeast Columbia Way at about 5:30 a.m. when the two were approached by Vincent Brandon, 52, just east of Southeast Columbia River Drive, Vancouver police spokeswoman Kim Kapp said.

A physical altercation occurred between the two men, Kapp said. McCarter allegedly hit Brandon in the head, and Brandon allegedly stabbed McCarter, Kapp said. Investigators don’t know yet if the two men knew each other, Kapp said.

Both were taken to local hospitals, Kapp said. Brandon was treated and released from PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. McCarter’s condition was not available Wednesday.

Police have not made any arrests yet in the case, but detectives continue to investigate. Detectives have not had a chance to interview McCarter, who underwent surgery for his injuries, Kapp said.
