Fairway-164th Avenue — The Fairway Village Ladies Club hosted K-9 units from various local police departments at an event so the officers could demonstrate some of what the dogs do. The officers showed how the dogs conduct a drug search, and how they attack by allowing one of the dogs to bite an officer wearing protective gear. The Ladies Club also raised $1,052 for K-9 programs. Some of the K-9 units on hand came from the Washougal Police Department, Vancouver Police Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Office. More than 100 people came out for the program, which was scheduled to include Vancouver police K-9 Ike, who died after being wounded in action on Sept. 1.
