Week 4 prep football player of the week: Gunner Talkington, Battle Ground

Gunner Talkington of Battle Ground was voted The Columbian’s high school football player of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Sept. 26.

Talkington collected 55 percent of the 4,084 votes cast by fans to beat out Dustin Nettles of Evergreen, who had 25 percent.

Talkington completed 31 of 39 passes for 503 yards and 6 TDs and has 51 yards rushing in a win over Mountain View.

The other nominees were Jordan Del Moral of Camas, Jalen Williams of Ridgefield and Carson Slagle of Prairie.

Nominees and the online ballot are posted at www.360preps.com each Sunday and voting continues until 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Players may be elected player of the week once per month, and no player can be nominated for the honor in consecutive weeks.
