Week 2 fall sports athlete of the week nominees

Voting, sponsored by Athletes Corner, continues until 8 p.m. Thursday

Here are the nominees for The Columbian fall sports prep athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Sept. 19.

Athletes may win the honor once in during the regular season and cannot be nominated in consecutive weeks.

Voting will continue until 8 p.m. Thursday, with results announced in Friday’s edition of The Columbian.

YACINE GUERMALI, CAMAS BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: Guermali won the moderate-course race at the Three-Course Challenge in Seaside.

ANDREW KABACY, SKYVIEW BOYS TENNIS: Kabacy won the No. 1 singles title at the Hudson’s Bay Invitational.

TARYN RIES, RIDGEFIELD GIRLS SOCCER: Ries scored six goals and had four assists in two league wins.

MADDIE STIMMEL, LA CENTER VOLLEYBALL: Stimmel had 19 kills, 26 digs, 9 aces in two league wins and led the Wildcats to Sundome Festival semifinals.

COLLEEN WOODS, HERITAGE GIRLS SWIMMING: Woods was the overall point scorer at the Sprint Pentathlon and qualified for state in the 100 fly.
