Accident snarls I-5 southbound

Morning commute slow from Vancouver

A series of problems has snarled this morning’s commute on Interstate 5 southbound from Vancouver through northeast Portland.

The incidents began before 6 a.m. with a stalled truck near Delta Park. That was followed a short time later by a motorcycle accident near Jantzen Beach that reportedly involved an injury. Both were cleared by about 6:30 a.m. but by then traffic was a mess.

The left lanes were blocked at both scenes, backing traffic up onto the Interstate 5 Bridge and into Clark County. Highway 14 and Highway 500 westbound to Interstate 5 southbound were also affected.

Motorists may want to use Interstate 205, where traffic was already slow, and allow extra time to reach their Oregon destinations.
