Week 3 football player of the week nominees

Voting, sponsored by Athletes Corner, continues until 8 p.m. Tuesday

Here are the nominees for The Columbian prep football player of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Sept. 19.

Players may win the honor once in a month and cannot be nominated in consecutive weeks.

Voting will continue until 8 p.m. Tuesday, with results announced in Wednesday’s edition of The Columbian.

TOMMY HERZ, RIDGEFIELD: The running back rushed for 187 yards and two TDs in the Spudders’ win over Washougal.

PRESTON JONES, MOUNTAIN VIEW: Jones rushed for 218 yards and four touchdowns in Mountain View’s win over Union.

CANON RACANELLI, HOCKINSON: The quarterback completed 7 of 10 passes for 203 yards and 4 TDs in win over Castle Rock.

JIMMY ROWE, SKYVIEW: The defensive lineman recorded a sack and led the Storm to shut out Battle Ground in the second half.

JULIO VARA, HUDSON’S BAY: The sophomore sparked Bay’s defense with three interceptions in the Eagles’ win over Woodland.
