Workers on Monday will begin installing a median barrier along state Highway 502 between Interstate 5 and Battle Ground, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

Crews will install about 20,000 feet of concrete barrier between Northeast 15th Avenue and Northwest 30th Avenue. New modifications to intersections will provide space for U-turns allowing drivers to access businesses on the other side of the roadway, according to WSDOT.

Highway intersections slated for such changes include Northeast 29th Avenue, Northeast 50th Avenue, Northeast 72nd Avenue and Northeast 92nd Avenue.

The work is part of an $88 million project to widen Highway 502 between I-5 and Battle Ground. The project is scheduled for completion in 2016.
