Chuck’s Produce is hosting a weeklong clothing drive to benefit The Arc, which supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
From Sunday through Sept. 25, donations can be dropped off at either the Chuck’s in Salmon Creek, 2302 N.E. 117th St., or the location at 13215 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd. in east Vancouver.
Accepted items include clean clothing and goods such as blankets, bed linens, towels, pillows, curtains, scarves, purses, belts and shoes. People can otherwise drop off donations at The Arc, 6511 N.E. 18th St., or call 360-546-3158 for free home pickup.
The grocery store promotion comes at the tail end of the Million Pound Clothing Drive, which began in May. The Arc has historically had trouble reaching the 1 million mark, falling about 150,000 pounds short. Officials thought a partnership with Chuck’s Produce could give them a needed boost, said executive director Michael Piper.
Goods collected will be sold to a third party, and the proceeds will support Arc services.
