Week 1 fall sports prep athlete of the week nominees

Voting, sponsored by Athletes Corner, will continue through Thursday

Here are the nominees for The Columbian fall sports prep athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Sept. 12.

Athletes may win the honor once in during the regular season and cannot be nominated in consecutive weeks.

Voting will continue until 8 p.m. Thursday, with results announced in Friday’s edition of The Columbian.

BEN GRUHER, UNION BOYS GOLF: Gruher beat Brian Humphries of Camas 2 and 1 in Titan Cup and shot 2-under 34 in win over Woodland.

EMMA JENKINS, CAMAS GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: Jenkins placed third overall in the Ash Creek XC Festival in 18:25.

MASON SCHEIDEL, SKYVIEW BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: Scheidel won the Hudson’s Bay Run-A-Ree in 16:39, leading Skyview to the team title.

ELIZABETH SHELDON, SETON CATHOLIC GIRLS SOCCER: Sheldon scored a goal in a win over Kalama and added two more in a win over Fort Vancouver.

EVI WILSON, COLUMBIA RIVER VOLLEYBALL: Wilson had a combined 26 kills, 29 digs, seven aces and eight blocks in wins over Camas and Skyview.
