Vancouver — People are gathering Monday morning in front of Vancouver City Hall to raise awareness about the need for a women’s homeless shelter.

More than 100 people have RSVP’d online for the 9 a.m. rally. Dorothy Rodriquez-Anderson started an online petition and has brought up the issue at city council meetings.

Clark County has eight shelter beds dedicated to women who are single and homeless.

Rodriquez-Anderson takes donated food and materials to homeless camps. She’s urging the city to take action and secure a shelter for homeless women, who face violence on the streets. The grass-roots group plans to be in front of city hall with signs.
