POCATELLO, Idaho — Alex Kuresa passed for one touchdown and ran for another and the Portland State defense forced four turnovers to help the Vikings beat Idaho State 34-14 on Saturday.

David Jones, a senior who came into the game with 44 career rushing yards, ran for 113 yards on 18 carries for Portland State (2-0, 1-0 Big Sky).

Idaho State (1-1, 0-1) opened the game with a 14-play, 75-yard drive that was capped by a 10-yard touchdown pass from Michael Sanders to Hagen Graves.

Portland State’s Kahlil Dawson returned the ensuing kickoff 94 yards for a score and, after Idaho State went three-and-out, Kuresa hit Trent Riley for a 50-yard touchdown to give the Vikings a 14-7 lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

The Bengals had four turnovers and just 54 total yards in the second half.
