If you’ve ever wanted to geek out over a printing press, today is your big opportunity.
The Columbian is celebrating its 125th anniversary with the community from noon to 2 p.m. today at 701 W. Eighth St. in downtown Vancouver.
Tours of the printing press and packaging center will run every half hour. There will also be face painting, refreshments, games, giveaways and the opportunity to talk with Editor Lou Brancaccio and Columbian reporters. Columbo the weather dog — an old Columbian mascot, for those who don’t remember — will be taking pictures with guests. Esoteric BBQ will be cooking up food, and Torque Coffee will be sampling cold brew coffee.
The first 50 people to arrive for tours will get a coupon good for $5 at any booth at the Vancouver Farmers Market, which is near The Columbian’s parking lot. Though guests can park for free in the parking lot, space is limited.
After 125 years in business, The Columbian is one of the few family-owned and operated newspapers in the country.
