OLYMPIA — Nominations are being accepted through Sept. 30 for the Southwest Washington spot on the Columbia River Salmon and Steelhead Anglers Board, an advisory panel that reviews proposals to maintain and improve sport fishing.
The board is composed of up to 10 members affiliated with Columbia Basin recreational fishing organizations.
Its primary role is to advise the Department of Fish and Wildlife on the spending of the money generated by the $8.75 Columbia River endorsement, required of steelhead and salmon anglers.
The revenue is used to manage fisheries including data collection and monitoring and law enforcement.
The group meets twice a year, in February and August, to evaluate the program and its expenditures. The department will provide financial assistance with travel costs.
Nominations need to include the nominee’s name, address. email address and telephone number; affiliations, if any; name, address and contact telephone number of any organzation submitting a nomination; references, and the nominee’s experience with the Columbia River fisheries.
