The Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency is hosting its annual community expo Saturday, and the public is invited to explore the 911 center and learn more about the public safety agencies in our community.
The free event is part of National Preparedness Month and will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of the agency’s building on West 13th Street between Franklin and Ingalls streets in Vancouver.
The public is in invited to tour the 911 center and see dispatchers in action taking emergency calls. The event will include a live demonstration from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office K-9 team, as well as an opportunity to learn hands-only CPR.
Activities include face-painting, button-making, games, and meeting firefighters, police officers and search-and-rescue dogs and horses. Attendees are invited to explore Homeland Security and emergency vehicles including an armored personal carrier, a heavy rescue vehicle, fire engines, ambulances and police command vehicles. Homeland Security personnel, a National Weather Service meteorologist and an amateur radio technical expert also will be at the event to answer questions.
Local businesses including NW Natural Gas, Corwin and Frito Lay have donated hot dogs, chips and beverages, which will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
