Washougal — Mike Stromme worked up quite a sweat after his first few days as superintendent of the Washougal School District. Stromme, a cross country athlete while he was a student and former high school cross country and track coach, recently joined Washougal High School’s cross country and volleyball practices. In his first year as Washougal superintendent, Stromme is keeping busy after the school day: He also plans to attend football and girls’ soccer practices. “One of my goals coming into the district is to spend time with students and coaches to learn about the great work going on in athletic and after-school programs,” he said in a news release from the district. “It provides me perspective on all that the district offers to our students and families.”
