Marquis Sampson was voted The Columbian’s high school football player of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Sept. 5.
Sampson collected 26 percent of the 4,143 votes cast by fans to beat out Jordan Lawson of Union, who had 25 percent.
Sampson rushed for 142 yards on 15 carries and one TD and had a 34-yard reception in the Plainsmen’s win over Eisenhower.
The other nominees were Jared Bentley of Camas, Gunner Talkington of Battle Ground and Preston Jones of Mountain View.
