Morgen Glessing of Woodland last reported in on Aug. 21, when resupplying at Stevens Pass in northern Washington. That was 2,465 miles down and fewer than 180 miles to Canada.
“The fires in northern Washington are threatening the end of the trail,’’ he wrote. “This is frustrating especially since I was planning on being done in less than a week from now and was very anxious to complete my adventure soon. My current plan is to wait a few days here and see what progresses, and if nothing improves, I may look into other ways of walking to the monument on the Canadian border.’’
Anthony Mannello of Vancouver resumed his hike after taking a break.
“It was harder than I thought to get back into the groove of hiking,’’ he wrote. “I seem to have shocked my system and the results were lack of motivation and energy…But soon enough it was life as unusual.’’
His trip through Mount Adams and Goat Rocks wildernesses were smoky adventures.
