Police are asking for the public’s help to find out more about what happened to a woman taken from Janzten Beach to Mosier, Ore., in an apparent kidnapping.

The Oregon State Police said the woman was waiting at a bus stop at Janzten Beach to Vancouver when, around 2 p.m. Wednesday, a man stopped by and offered her a ride to Vancouver.

The woman accepted and hopped in the man’s pickup. The police said the man ended up driving her east on Interstate 84 and wouldn’t let her out of the vehicle.

He eventually stopped along the highway near Mosier, where she was able to get out.

Police said she described the man as white with blond hair, blue eyes and heavier build, and about 50. The subject went by the name Travis.

The woman was unfamiliar with the man, and she wasn’t hurt, police said.

The woman told the police the man was driving a gray, ’80s or early ’90s model extended cab Ford pickup with a lifted suspension.

The Oregon State Police is asking anyone that may have seen the pickup parked along Interstate 84, or that has information that could lead to identifying the driver, to call Detective Lori Rosebraugh at 541-296-9646, extension 5350.
