Vancouver — The Free Clinic of Southwest Washington received a $5,000 grant from Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center to help cover the cost of radiology services, such as X-rays and ultrasounds.

Without the ability to obtain X-rays, serious conditions may go undiagnosed and untreated. X-rays allow physicians to know the severity of the condition and enable them to initiate the appropriate treatment, according to the Free Clinic.

X-rays and ultrasounds are read by community radiologists who partner with the Free Clinic to provide patient care.

“Being able to provide X-rays means our volunteer providers can fulfill our vision of quality, compassionate care,” Free Clinic Executive Director Barbe West said in a news release. “It means our patients receive the care they need before a condition becomes acute. We are extremely grateful to Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center.”
