Esther Short — Open House Ministries hosted its fifth annual Community Block Party on Aug. 27, with more than 550 people enjoying a free barbecue and other activities. There was also a free dental hygiene clinic, thrift store fashion show, Zumba, putt-putt golf and haircuts. The party was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Greater Clark County. “This is our way of giving back to the community,” Open House Ministries’ Executive Director Wayne Garlington said in a release from the organization. “For us, it’s about reaching out to local residents, our alumni, friends, neighbors and community partners.”
