The regional SWAT team assisted Portland police with the arrest of a Vancouver man during a high-risk traffic stop on Interstate 5 on Thursday morning.

Officers from Clark County assisted Portland police with monitoring the whereabouts of Angelo Massey, 30, and Sadie Errand, 18, both of Vancouver, Clark County Sheriff’s Office Cmdr. Mike McCabe said.

The two were wanted in connection to a shooting at a Portland apartment complex, McCabe said.

They started watching Massey and Errand at about 6:45 a.m. in a residential area near Orchards south of Padden Parkway, McCabe said.

They followed the vehicle, but waited until it was out of a residential area where there were school buses and children present.

“We followed them until we could find a safe place to pull them over,” McCabe said.

Police stopped traffic on Interstate 5 near Mill Plain to make the high-risk traffic stop and arrested Massey and Errand. A gun was found in the vehicle, McCabe said.
