The Camas-Washougal Community Chest is looking for local nonprofits that are interested in receiving grant money for a project that benefits the community. In 2015, the Community Chest awarded nearly $70,000 through 15 grants and served an estimated 15,000 people. For 2016, the agency aims to give out about $75,000.
Grant applications are available online at www.camaswashougalcommunitychest.org and must be postmarked by Dec. 15. Besides being a nonprofit serving Camas and Washougal, grant applicants have to explain how their program or project will benefit the community. The agencies that got grants during the last cycle include the Inter-Faith Treasure House, Camas Farmers Market, Friends of the Columbia Gorge, Janus Youth Programs, and Silver Star Search & Rescue.
Grant recipients will be announced in March.
