And the winner is … Tafari. That’s the top choice of name through online voting for the Milwaukee (Wis.) County Zoo’s giraffe calf, according to a tweet from the Milwaukee County Zoo. The African name means “he who inspires awe.”

The name was revealed on Oct. 16, which was the 1-month birthday of Tafari. The zoo held a celebration at the outdoor giraffe exhibit.

The public was asked to pick their favorite name for the calf through an online voting process that began Oct. 9. More than 4,700 people voted to name the calf, according to the zoo. Other options included:

• Asante, a Swahili word meaning “thank you.”

• Jua, a Swahili word that means “sun.”

• Kayin, a word of African origin meaning “long-awaited child.”

• Mwana, a Swahili word that means “son.”
