Daniel Davis forced two second-half fumbles that played a key role in Washougal’s nonleague victory at Kiggins Bowl.
The first came after the Panthers (3-5) were forced to punt early in the third quarter. Davis ripped the ball away from Fort return man Thomas Shields and dragged him to the Trappers 9. One play later, Kade Coons scored the go-ahead touchdown.
Then, with 45 seconds to play and Fort having one last chance to pull out the win, Davis stripped Fort’s Kyron Lowe-Ash on a first-down reception. Jake Klackner’s recovery sealed the victory.
“They just left the ball out there, so every time I’d go in for a tackle, I was strafing at it,” Davis said. “I felt the momentum turn (on the first fumble). It was a tie game then, and that gave us the score to take the lead.”
