Esther Short — The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra raised more than $140,000 at its annual gala on Sept. 26, held at Royal Oaks Country Club. Maestro Salvador Brotons was the guest of honor, as he recently kicked off his 25th year as the orchestra’s conductor and artistic director. All money raised will be used to create concerts, purchase music and conduct music education projects, such as the annual Young Artists Competition, according to a release from the orchestra.
