COUGAR — Water levels at Yale Reservoir on the North Fork of the Lewis River have dropped and Yale Park boat ramp is no longer usable.

PacifiCorp reported Friday the ramp is now dry. The ramp at Swift Forest Camp has been unusable since mid-July.

According to PacifiCorp, operator of the three dams on the North Fork of the Lewis, a low winter snowpack and below-average rain has streamflows into the reservoirs at only 35 percent of normal for this time of year.

The utility has held water in the three reservoirs during the summer to be able to increase flows for spawning chinook and coho salmon this fall downstream of Merwin Dam.

Speelyai Bay boat ramp at Merwin Reservoir remains open.
