Week 5 football player of the week: Dalton Morgan of La Center

Dalton Morgan of La Center was voted The Columbian’s high school football player of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Oct. 3.

Morgan collected 46 percent of the 4,535 votes cast by fans to beat out JoJo Siofele of Union, who had 29 percent.

Morgan caught two fourth-quarter TD passes, including the game-winner with 23 seconds left to beat Castle Rock.

The other nominees were Preston Jones of Mountain View, Manase Nguamo of Camas and Kedrick Johnson of Hockinson.

Nominees and the online ballot are posted at www.360preps.com each Saturday and voting continues until 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Players may be elected player of the week once per month, and no player can be nominated for the honor in consecutive weeks.
