Week 5 prep football player of the week nominees

Weekly vote, sponsored Athletes Corner, continues until 8 p.m. Tuesday

Here are the nominees for The Columbian prep football player of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the week ending Oct. 3.

Players may win the honor once in a month and cannot be nominated in consecutive weeks.

Voting will continue until 8 p.m. Tuesday, with results announced in Wednesday’s edition of The Columbian.

KEDRICK JOHNSON, HOCKINSON: Johnson caught five passes for 182 yards and 3 TDs vs. Hudson’s Bay. He also had an interception and fumble recovery.

PRESTON JONES, MOUNTAIN VIEW: Jones rushed for 271 yards on 35 carries and five TDs in a win over Bethel.

DALTON MORGAN, LA CENTER: Morgan caught two fourth-quarter touchdown passes, including the game-winner with 23 seconds left, as the Wildcats rallied past Castle Rock.

MANASE NGUAMO, CAMAS: The defensive lineman led Camas’ effort to stopping Skyview’s ground game and put constant pressure on the QB.

JOJO SIOFELE, UNION: The freshman rushed for 230 yards on 25 carries and 5 TDs in a win over Evergreen. He also completed a 30-yard pass.
