Anybody out there have a cloning machine handy?

I’m sure there are people in Ridgefield who might be interested. And there are also people in Hockinson interested.

Heck, even we at The Columbian would be interested.

In recent seasons, a good rivalry has started to develop in the Class 2A Greater St. Helens League between Ridgefield and Hockinson.

Last season, Hockinson and Ridgefield met three times in girls soccer, twice in league play and once more in the district title game.

The Spudders earned the upper hand in those matchups as both teams advanced to the 2A state quarterfinals, behind their star players Taryn Ries of Ridgefield and Rylee Seekins of Hockinson.

On Tuesday in Hockinson, those two teams meet for the first time this season. And, surprise surprise, those two teams are undefeated and tied atop the 2A GSHL at 5-0.

The game starts at 7 p.m.

And that also happens to be the same start time of the 2A GSHL volleyball match between Ridgefield and Hockinson. Except the volleyball match will be played in Ridgefield.

And first place will be at stake, as Ridgefield holds a 5-0 record in league play, with Hockinson at 4-1.

And then on Friday, there is yet another big Ridgefield-Hockinson matchup. This one is on the football field at Ridgefield. It will featured the fourth-ranked and defending league champion Hawks against the upstart Spudders.

And, again, both teams are undefeated, and not just in league. Ridgefield is 5-0, 3-0. Hockinson is 5-0 and 2-0.

The Spudders have not been 5-0 since their 9-0 season in 2003.

Other events to watch

  •  The fall golf regular season concludes in the 4A and 3A Greater St. Helens League. Golfers will be prepping for the district tournaments next week.
  •  While the other leagues are now about halfway through their regular seasons in volleyball and soccer, the 3A Greater St. Helens League begins its six-match schedule this week in both sports.
  •  It seems like every week there are big games in the 4A GSHL in football. And this week is no different. Battle Ground and its potent passing attack travel to play top-ranked Camas on Friday. Skyview looks to bounce back from its first loss of the season by taking own the potent running attack of Mountain View in the late game at McKenzie Stadium.
