Banjos and bird sounds will greet visitors to Ridgefield this weekend, as Birdfest & Bluegrass celebrates the fall migrations to the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, 28908 N.W. Main Ave., Ridgefield. Refuge tours will be offered throughout the weekend, and the Birders’ Marketplace will be full of exhibits and activities from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Ridgefield Community Center, 210 N. Main Ave., Ridgefield. Event highlights include the Audubon Live Bird Show at 1 p.m. today at View Ridge Middle School, 510 Pioneer St., Ridgefield. Bluegrass will be sounding out from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Old Liberty Theater, 115 N. Main Ave., Ridgefield. Attendance is free. That will be followed by a performance by award-winning band Kathy Boyd and Phoenix Rising at 7 p.m. for $10. Keeping Chinook traditions alive, a presentation and traditional salmon bake will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Cathlapotle Plankhouse on the wildlife refuge. www.ridgefieldfriends.org/birdfest

Camas Bike and Sport hosts its sixth annual Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day group ride for kids and accompanying parents from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday. The event starts with a bike safety inspection and practice on a mini skills course before riding through Lacamas Lake Park, 2610 N.E. Everett St., Camas. Helmets and closed-toes shoes required. The Kiggins Theatre will screen the documentary “Unbranded,” not rated, which follows four young cowboys who hatch a plan to ride a string of wild mustangs from Mexico to Canada. The perilous journey across the American West tests friendship and shines a light on America’s wild horses. The movie will be shown at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 6 at Kiggins Theatre, 1011 Main St., Vancouver. Riverside Christian School will host its 25th annual Apple Festival from 10 to 4 p.m. Oct. 11 on the school campus, 463 N. Shepherd Road, Washougal. The Vancouver School of Arts and Academics will turn 20 this year, and the dance program will celebrate with a performance, “20 Years of Dance at Arts and Academics.” The show will feature many of its current and alumni dancers, including those who have gone on to teach, dance and choreograph professionally. Alumni include Eowyn Emerald Barrett, Brent Luebbert and Laura Aschoff. The performance is at 7 p.m. Oct. 16 at the school’s Royal Durst Theater, 3101 Main St., Vancouver. The Love Street Playhouse will bring Alfred Hitchcock’s crime thriller “Dial M for Murder” to the stage Oct. 16-31. Tony Wendice married his socialite wife, Margot, for her money.
