2A GSHL football: Ridgefield 24, R.A. Long 21

Jalen Williams, Tommy Herz and Cade Morrill each had touchdowns runs as Ridgefield held off R.A. Long to a win a 2A Greater St. Helens League game in Longview.

Williams had a 1-yard TD run and Herz ran 11 yards for another touchdowns as Ridgefield went into halftime tied 14-14 with the Lumberjack.

The Ridgefield defense took over in the second half as the Spudders took the lead on Morrill’s 2-yard TD run in the third quarter.

Michael Martin added a 30-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to extend the lead to 24-14.

Freshman quarterback Owen Enriquez rushed 1 yard for a touchdown to make it 24-21 with 1:50 left in the game.

Ridgefield recovered the onside kick to secure the win.

Enriquez replaced R.A. Long starting quarterback Owen Bertram, who suffered an shoulder injury that is expected to keep him out of action for at least a couple of games.
