The Keep Our Kids Safe Conference on Oct. 9 and 10 is a chance for professionals and parents to learn how to create a safer environment for children and reduce youth violence. Keynote speaker Juan Pacheco will talk about getting involved in gangs as a child, how it stripped him of his freedom and how he turned his life around.

There will also be workshops, a youth panel and lunch for those who pre-register for the conference. The conference takes places at Clark College’s Gaiser Hall, which is on the north end of the campus at 1933 Fort Vancouver Way. Professionals are invited to attend the Friday conference from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday’s conference, which goes from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., is designed for families.

Participants are asked to register by the end of today at www.safecommunitiestaskforce.org/keeping-our-kids-safe-conference.
