Save the Date: Trees will light up, Santa smile for cameras

Take the family for an adventure among the boughs of evergreen as Vancouver Rotary Foundation Festival of Trees continues from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. There will be appearances by Santa and Mrs. Claus, and performances by choir, band and dance groups, plus the Vancouver Farmers Holiday Market offering gift ideas from local vendors. Visitors can chat with the Talking Tree and take part in a scavenger hunt at the Hilton Vancouver Washington, 301 W. Sixth St., Vancouver. As part of the Festival of Trees, there will be a Hello Vancouver Holiday Spectacular at 5 p.m. tonight. Events are free, with a $5 suggested donation. http://rotaryfestivaloftrees.org

The holiday-themed Hot Buttered Run starts and ends under the Christmas tree in Esther Short Park on Sunday, with both 5K and half-marathon routes. There will also be a Kid’s Fun Run and Kid’s Kandy Kane 1K. Day-of-race registration opens at 7:30 a.m., with races starting at 9 a.m. Proceeds benefit Race to Remember and the Boys and Girls Club of SW Washington. Washougal will be celebrating the season with its Lighted Parade and Christmas Tree Lighting on Dec. 3. The parade will light the evening with decorated vehicles and participants at 6 p.m. on Main Street, followed by the community tree lighting at 6:30 p.m. at Reflection Plaza, 1703 Main St., Washougal. The 26th annual Battle Ground Christmas Tree Lighting begins at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 4 with music by the Battle Ground High School Jazz Choir, followed by Santa and Mrs. Claus arriving by fire truck at 5:45 p.m. outside the Battle Ground Community Center, 912 E. Main St., Battle Ground. The festivities will continue inside with hot cocoa and a chance to take a photo with Santa. The city of Camas will celebrate its Hometown Holidays, featuring a community Christmas tree lighting, complete with an appearance by Santa from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 4, with the lighting of the tree at 6:30 p.m. There will be holiday entertainment from more than 15 school and community choirs, tractor hay rides and more along Northeast Fourth Avenue in downtown Camas. 360-834-5307 or www.cityofcamas.us

Ridgefield’s Hometown Celebration kicks off at 9 a.m. Dec. 5 with an Ugly Sweater Run with 5K and 10K routes. There will be craft and gift marketplaces, family games, performances, holiday trailer rides, a live nativity scene and more throughout downtown Ridgefield. The tree lighting takes place at 5 p.m. with a community sing-along in Overlook Park, Pioneer Street and Main Avenue, Ridgefield. The 11th annual La Center Christmas Festival will run 5:30 to 8 p.m. Dec. 6, featuring a Christmas tree lighting, musical performances and the arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus.
