You could spend money on the latest doohickey this weekend, or you could get a furry friend for free. Pet adoptions are free this weekend at the West Columbia Gorge Humane Society in Washougal.
Online retailer Zappos is covering all adoption fees today through Monday at humane societies around the country. West Columbia Gorge is one of three humane societies in Washington that Zappos is sponsoring this weekend.
About 20 cats are available for adoption, said volunteer Michael Prevec. Hours for the cat shelter at 2695 S. Index St. are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily. Or, call 360-835-3464 to make an appointment.
The humane society has seven dogs up for adoption, six of which are housed at the dog shelter, 2675 S. Index St. It’s open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, or by appointment. Monday through Friday, the shelter is open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. To reach the dog shelter call 360-335-0941.
