CAMAS — A local contractor has agreed to offer free help for the Camas woman whose basement flooded during heavy Halloween rains.

“I’m super excited. I was feeling pretty bummed out about it (the damage),” said Debbie Hinesley, whose Greeley Street home bore the brunt of an overloaded storm drain Oct. 31.

City officials worked with Hinesley to try to find a solution after the city’s insurance company denied her claim for the more than $10,000 in damage.

“There were no good solutions, nothing less than suing the city, and that’s the last thing I wanted to do,” Hinesley said.

Matt Olson of Robertson & Olson Construction offered to repair the damage, which will likely occur in the spring, Hinesley said.
