The Clark County Sheriff’s Office will review training policies related to terrorism and active-shooter incidents, and conduct more active-shooter drills, following the terrorist attacks in Paris, Sheriff Chuck Atkins said.
In a post on the office’s Facebook page Tuesday, Atkins twice said that there is no information regarding threats to the county, “but I do believe a heightened level of awareness and preparedness is warranted.”
Atkins said he directed sheriff’s office staff to review the office’s procedures regarding terrorism-related incidents and active-shooter events, and make room in the training calendar for more scenario-based active-shooter training.
“As first responders we will do our best to keep Clark County safe from terrorism and to respond effectively to any incidents which may occur,” he said. “In addition to these directives, I would ask that all Clark County citizens assist us in this effort by remaining vigilant and by reporting suspicious activity to your local law enforcement agency.”
