Battle Ground — The Monday following the Nov. 13 attacks on Paris, River HomeLink art teacher Traci Donahue switched up her lesson plan. She opted to speak with her Exploring Arts and Culture students — ranging from fourth- to eighth-graders — about the attacks, and asked them to create tiny French flags to show their support.

A student’s parent reached out to a school in Paris and formed a connection with a class of 9-year-olds at ?cole Forest in Paris, so Donahue’s class sent over a care package to the school full of French flags, letters to the students and paintings of French landmarks.

In an email, Donahue wrote that she hopes her students and the French students will keep in touch throughout the school year.
