Parts of downtown without power

Parts of downtown Vancouver were without power this morning, though the problems were fixed before the work day began in earnest.

A power outage affecting 397 customers was reported to Clark Public Utilities shortly after 5 a.m. An hour later, the lights were still off, though power was restored not long thereafter.

The outage included The Columbian, 701 W. Eighth St., where work continued with the help of generators.

According to Clark’s online power outage map, there was also a report of a smaller power outage on the other side of Interstate 5, near the Grand Central shopping center. About 14 customers were affected by that outage, which was reported at 4:16 a.m.

There was no word on the cause, but rainy, windy weather has occasionally disrupted electrical service in the Pacific Northwest for the past two days.
