Heritage’s Colleen Woods was the highest placer among the local swimmers at the 4A state meet Saturday at Federal Way.
The junior finished fourth in the 50-yard freestyle finals with a time of 24.52 seconds. Emma Carlson of Mount Vernon won the race in 23.29.
Mountain View’s Sruthi Ravi was eighth in the 100 backstroke with a time of 59.16.
Union’s Livi Cox was 10th in the 200 individual medley and 13th in the 500 free.
Skyview’s Hanna Eha was 13th in the 200 IM, and teammate Hanna Eha placed 15th in the 100 breaststroke.
Camas’ 200 medley relay with Corinne Bintz, Siobhan Choong, Hannah Clayton and Jessica Bretz placed 14th.
In the 3A meet, Columbia River’s Kara Noftsker placed eighth in the 100 free final with a time of 55.10. She was also 12th in the 200 free in 1:58.92.
Makena Wilcox of Columbia River was 16th in the 50 free (25.58). Her result in the 100 butterfly was not posted on WIAA.com at press time.
There was no local swimmers in the 2A finals.
1A state volleyball
After playing 10 very tight sets while going 1-1 on Friday, the King’s Way Christian Knights were eliminated in three sets on Saturday in Yakima.
Naches Valley won the seventh-place semifinal 25-10, 25-23, 25-19. (Naches Valley then lost to Freeman in the seventh-place match.)
Julia Sprowls had 18 kills and 14 digs for the Knights. Brianna Clark had 24 assists, Jasmine Nesbitt had 12 digs, and Lindsey Nein had 10 digs.
