A juicy storm moved into Western Washington overnight Thursday, causing power outages in the Centralia area and northward. The rain is expected to sag south over the weekend, drenching Clark County.

The Associated Press reported several thousand people were without power in Lewis County, the Puget Sound area, and north to Whatcom County. Gusty winds combined with the rain to down the power lines.

Rivers were on the rise, and a flood warning was issued for the Skokomish River near Shelton.

For Southwest Washington, the National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement predicting four to six inches of rain could fall in some places by Saturday evening, with another inch or two possible on Sunday. The metro area is not expected to receive that much rain, however. The storm will be accompanied by some wind gusts.

The worst of the weather is expected to hold off until Saturday, according to the forecast.

About 0.1 inch of rain fell in the last 24 hours at Pearson Field, where the National Weather Service has monitoring equipment.
