Damaged extension cords likely caused a fire that damaged a Felida-area home early Tuesday morning, according to the Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Assistant Fire Marshal Richard Martin said the cables were lost in the fire, leaving investigators unable to determine how the cords were initially damaged.

The fire did about $50,000 in damage to the building and the home’s contents, Martin said. The fire burned into the 1,200-square-foot ranch home’s attic.

The fire, at 703 N.W. 117th St., was reported around 4:20 a.m., burning in a living room at the house.

The occupant, who called the fire in, was able to get out of the house with his two dogs before firefighters arrived. No one was hurt.

Martin said the damage was relatively moderate, and the structure would likely be habitable with repairs.
