Clark County — Two local women competed at the Washington State Make It With Wool competition, held Oct. 31 in Walla Walla.

Heidi Christenson, 19, of Ridgefield won the senior division, for ages 17-24, and earned a trip to the national finals in Scottsdale, Ariz., in January. Christenson earned the win with her cream, navy and pink crocheted wool sweater, cream knit camisole and navy slacks.

Miranda Dowler, 16, of Vancouver competed in the junior category, for ages 13-16, and made a wool plaid jumpsuit for the competition. Entries can be sewn, knit, crocheted, woven or felted and must contain a minimum of 60 percent wool fibers, according to the competition’s website.

The state contest is sponsored by Washington Wool Growers Auxiliary and the Washington State Sheep Producer.
