Clark soccer teams eliminated

Penguins women, men fall in NWAC quarterfinals

Clark College’s soccer teams were eliminated from the Northwest Athletic Conference tournaments with losses in Saturday’s quarterfinals.

The Penguin men fell 4-3 in a penalty kick shootout following a scoreless game against Treasure Valley Community College played at McKenzie Stadium.

Marco Gonzales made four saves for Clark, which finished 9-6-2.

TVCC advances to the NWAC Final Four set for Nov. 14-15 at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila.

The Clark College women played Saturday at Starfire, falling 2-0 to Highline Community College.

Highline’s Madison Gale scored in the first minute of the match, with Chentay Warnes finding the back of the net in the 63rd minute.

Carla Ruiz was credited with one save for Clark, which finished 13-2-4 with 11 shutout victories.

Highline advances to the NWAC Final Four, also Nov. 14-15 at Starfire.

Clark College volleyball

Janessa Mast had 20 kills with a .436 hitting percentage and 14 digs, Meghan Turner had 26 digs and the Clark College volleyball team concluded its regular season with a 25-21, 17-25, 25-15, 25-21 victory over Clackamas Community College.

The Penguins (20-14) are locked into third place in the NWAC South standings at 7-5. They are one of a handful of NWAC teams that do not play a match Tuesday or Wednesday.
