Today is Election Day, an opportunity for voters to express their preferences about how government conducts the business of the people. Ballots were sent out weeks ago, and they must be postmarked or dropped off by today.
Throughout the election season, The Columbian’s Editorial Board has been busy interviewing candidates and examining the major ballot measures in an attempt to better inform our readers. We then have offered recommendations and explained the reasoning behind those suggestions, believing that a well-informed vote is essential to the democratic process.
Those recommendations are listed below, yet they are nothing more than recommendations; we trust the ability and desire of voters to study the candidates. To assist with that, we direct readers to the editorials and videos that resulted from our interviews (www.columbian.com/news/opinion/endorsements). Here is a recap of our recommendations:
• Clark County Council Chair: Mike Dalesandro (D), while Marc Boldt (I) also is a strong candidate.
