Clark County Elections will host a political party observer training from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the elections conference room at 1408 Franklin St., in Vancouver. The training is for anyone interested in being a political party observer. Training is required for those who want to observe.

Election observer training provides an overview of ballot processing, including the inspection process and the ballot counting equipment.

Observers are charged with ensuring voted ballots are counted as the voter intended, that ballots aren’t removed without authorization and no ballots are added or substituted to for legitimate ballots.

It is the duty of the political party to appoint observers, but the public is invited to attend even if they may not be assigned as an official observer.
