Battle Ground is seeking the public’s help in determining whether Vietnam War fatality Lance Cpl. Wayne Richard Pollard lived in the Battle Ground community.
With confirmation, Pollard’s name would become part of Battle Ground’s Veterans Memorial. He served in South Vietnam as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps and was killed on Oct. 13, 1967, when his vehicle hit a land mine. He was 25.
Pollard lived in and graduated from high school in Darrington but may have attended Battle Ground High School for a short time between the years of 1955 and 1960. He also had ties to the Camas and La Center areas.
His known relatives included his widow, Rachel, of Camas; a son, Richard; a daughter, Rita; and parents who lived in La Center.
