The Washington State Department of Transportation has hired Kris Strickler as its new Southwest regional administrator.
Strickler succeeds Don Wagner, who retired this month after a 42-year career in transportation. Strickler will start on June 1, according to an announcement sent to WSDOT employees on Wednesday.
Strickler most recently worked as director of transportation services for Mackay Sposito, a Vancouver-based consulting firm. He’s previously worked with both WSDOT and the Oregon Department of Transportation. Strickler was also the last director of the Columbia River Crossing before the failed Interstate 5 Bridge replacement project folded in 2014.
As regional administrator, Strickler will oversee state projects in seven counties in Southwest Washington, including Clark County.
